Want to share private photos and videos with a group and keep them off Facebook and Instagram? While social media encourages a culture of ‘share everything’, there are certain events you may want to keep away from Karen.
Facebook Groups does a pretty good job of this, but more and more people are rethinking its use. With recent campaigns like #DeleteFacebook, more and more people are becoming wary of using Facebook and Instagram due to ad targeting, privacy considerations, or concerns over the companies business practices.
So how do you privately share photos and videos with a group people at a wedding, conference, charity event, or tournament? Let us show how to do that with PicPack, the easiest way to privately share photos and videos with groups.
What is PicPack?
PicPack allows groups to easily collect and view photos and videos with the option to password protect them and keep them completely private. It was designed to allow everyone within the group or team to easily share their photos and videos without needing to download an app or signup.
Each PicPack comes with a personalized URL that can be shared with the group via email, SMS, or any other communication channel. More importantly, the creator of the PicPack can add a password to ensure only those people with the password can upload and view photos and videos.
Here is how it works:
Sign up for Picpack
The owner of a PicPack is the only one that ever needs to signup, and doing so is super easy. You can signup for PicPack in two clicks. Use your Google account or phone number. That’s it. We won’t ask you for anything else. We take privacy seriously and only need your Google account or phone number to allow you to login and securely manage your PicPacks.
Setup Your PicPack
You can create a PicPack with just a few simple steps:
1Create your custom link
You can give your private photo album a personalized name that will corresponds to your own unique PicPack link. If you are hosting a bar mitzvah, you may name your PicPack ‘Brian Lachs Bar Mitzvah’. This will result in this personalized link: https://picpack.app/brian-lachs-bar-mitzvah. This is memorable and very easy to share with your group.
2Add a description
Each PicPack can include a optional description. You may want to provide the date, time, and location of the bar mitzvah. This is a perfect way to give your group additional information, prior to or during your event.
3Personalize your PicPack
You can customize the look and feel of your PicPack by changing the color, font, and background image. This lets you add a personal touch to match your style.
4Approve before publishing
You can approve all photos and videos before they are published. When new videos or photos are added by your group, you can approve them in the Not Approved section of your review page. Approve or delete the photos and videos with the single click of an icon.
5Add your password
This is where you make your PicPack truly private. You can optionally require a password before your group can upload or view any photos or videos. This will keep your event away from prying eyes. You can make this password as complex as you deem fit. The longer the password, the better. Without this password, strangers will never see the photos and videos collected from your group.
6Save your PicPack
Once you have configured your PicPack you are ready to save it. Upon saving your PicPack, a 5 digit secret code ( e.g. ‘YWWFD‘ ) will be automatically created. You can use this code to share within the emails and texts you send to your group. This let’s them quickly find your event by going directly https://picpack.app and entering the 6 digit secret code. They will still be required to enter a password before they are granted access to upload and view photos and videos.
Manage Your Picpack
You can manage all of your PicPack in one central place. Here are a few things you may want to do:
Share a link to your PicPack:
You can copy either the custom link to your PicPack or the secret code from your PicPack. Share this link or secret code via email, text, social media or any other place where you communicate with your group. This allows your group to find your PicPack, but they will still need to enter a password if you have added on.
Review your PicPack:
If you want to review photos and videos, click Review from your PicPack screen. You can approve or deny photos and videos to be included on your PicPack page. You can also quickly delete any photos you don’t want to keep.
View your slideshow:
If you want to show a live slideshow of your Picpack, you can launch it from your PicPack page. As your private group uploads photos and videos, they will automatically show up in the slideshow. This is a awesome way to set up a virtual photo booth or add as a backdrop at your party or meetup.
Lock your PicPack:
When you are done collecting photos or videos, click the Lock button to disable uploads. Once the party has wound down and people are done with their uploads, you can use this feature to simply host the photos and videos for a certain amount of time.
Create a flyer:
A good way to share your PicPack so your group can join is by printing it out on a flyer that you can physically post as your event. PicPack will create a printer friendly flyer for 8.5 x 11 paper A QR Code will be generated, providing an even easier way for your group to join and start uploading or viewing photos. For example, you may post the flyer at the door of your event, instructing people to get in on the action of uploading photos and videos directly from their smart phone. Also post them throughout various spaces at your event to remind people to upload all their great shots.
Delete your PicPack:
Delete your event once you are done viewing photos and videos. This is great for subscription customers who want to use their PicPack subscription to host additional events.
Download all photos and videos:
